I had this yesterday, it was simple but today I am having some weird pressure in my leg when I stand up from sitting. It feels like the blood rushes to a part of my leg then stops, then afterwards the pressure goes away and I can start walking but with a limp. I hope this gets better.
you may need several treatments….I recommend you have a cane available to move around your home….I recommend a light diet….tylenol etc….vitamins…recliner chair….a caregiver…sleep….you must plastic bag your leg in shower…take off a couple of days and recover…
what they dont tell you is the veins go black 2 to 3 weeks after the operation is done and they also bulge out alot more,, for such an uncomplicated and easy looking procedure in all the videos i have seen none of them do not once mention this after effect. did anyone who had this operation done experience this problem.. as if so why did the doctors/consultants not say this to patients. prior to goin ahead with it?
My varicose veins were below the knee. But the vein stuck out all the way down my leg. (from groin to lower calf)
@cshamber Was your varicose veins you treated below or above your knee?
My husband had the sugery done under general anathetic. One week later is still in a lot of pain if he stands (in the inner thigh, groin area) its still early days. But worse than he expected.
does a varicose veins can cause separation to the US Military and how much the cost of the procedure if I have no medical insurance?
I had this done in june of 2009 because I had A bad bulge vein in my left leg due to three pregnancys> well two weeks later I found out I was Pregnant again 7 months preg. and my legs are worser then ever the left is so bad I cant even get out of bed with out the stockings and the right leg is starting with little painful bulges of vein:-{{ I don’t know whats gonna happen after this baby comes out but what am I gonna do now??
The veins treated are diseased and would no longer be appropriate to use in bypass procedure. Elimination or ablation of thesuperficial vein does not usually affect blood return to the heart. This function can be sufficiently taken cared of by deeper veins.
If I have an EVLT surgeon in my saphenous vein,it’s gonna be sealed forever right? So, what if I need it for a bypass in the future? Eliminating this vein wont have secondary effects? Please let me know
had a day surgery lots of bruising but its settling down but groin still hurts no numbness .the itchiness, swollen ankle is gone before and after surgery wear KOLOTEX SHEER RELIEF 60D KNEE HIGH OR PANTIHOSE they help before and after sugery . SO DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MEDICAL STOCKINGS ITS NOT HELPING veins dont go away for good
I had this done yesterday and I was in pain through the entire procedure! It was horrible. I had 3 “nicks” and I lost count on how many local injections! I kept getting a horrible burning in my groin. I see in this video the woman walked normal right away, I am on day 2 and can barely put pressure down. Next varicose vein I get will be with me forever!
this is so you can get money back through your health fund currently Medicare only covers a small component of this procedure so majority of it would be out of pocket if you were to do it in a vein clinic this is how doctors get away with it, but unfortantly some dr cannot do this in hospital its not feesable.
Hello. I live in Spain, and I am searching for an EVLT Clinic for a woman here that’s 65 years old. I was wondering if you could help me find clinics here in Spain that use this procedure, as all of my internet searches keep pulling up nothing (maybe it has a different name in Spanish?) Also, will this still be a good procedure for her because of her age, or would she benefit more from another type of surgery for her vericose veins? Thanks a lot!
Hello,
Yes, some physicians prefere general anestesia. this is normal. Normal scarring should be limited to the entry site, which is just a tiny skin nick and needle entry. You can expect that scar to be minimal or even disapear completely over time. I have never heard “Brown Spots” being associated with this procedure. This might be a reference to an adjunct treatment called scelrotherapy where discolorations can be possible. In any case, you should check those questions with your doctor too
I am having this done next week but my doctor is having me put under general anestesia and i have to miss the following 2 days of work… is this normal? This contradicts what was said in the video.
also, how much scarring can i expect? I saw one online post that complained of brown spots and scarring months after surgery
…on these varicose veins. Depending on how well the vein wall of your varicose veins “bounce back” after the pressure has been released you will see your varicosities vanish completely or hardly at all, this is normal and differs from patient to patient. Depending on how big those remaining varicose veins are they can be followed up with either injection sclerotherapy for smaller vessels or ambulatory phlebectomy for the bigger ones. Ask your doctor on how he or she wants to proceed.
Your comment about the feeling of pulling piano wire in your leg is normal, actually a good sign of a successfull treatment, what you are feeling is your great saphenous vein knotting up and closing off completely, which is the aim of the procedure. you posted this 5 days ago, so by now the pulling sensation should have subsided. as for your remaining varicose veins, that is normal as well, the EVLT procedure treats the underlying cause of the varicose veins and diminishes the pressure….
I just had this surgery 6 days ago my leg feels like theres a tight piano wire in there that pulls everytime I walk and although my viens are not as severe I still have the vericose vein
hi thanks fro uploading this i am 22 years old have 2 kid and one on the way and mine are like that bad want thm taking out they hurt so mutch
Yes it will your skin will look all baggy.
Yes. It will be a scar.
yes I think so…
yes, sometimes more red, or white, maybe raised, but make it easier for a “cover up”, if you would rather just put something else there
