Laser scar surgery treatment?

TRIA Beauty Hair Removal Laser

I have a really small scar that can be sort of covered with makeup. I’m not a big fan of make up though, so I want to laser it to lighten it up a little. I already checked with my insurance and they don’t cover it. [Approximately] Around how much will I pay to remove a small acne scar?

I’ll bet that other answerer is trying to sell that product. My advice? Don’t buy it. They didn’t even pay attention to your question. That product, if it works, is only for preventing breakouts. To be honest, I don’t know anything about it. But I can say it WON’T treat your scars. Acne scarring extends into the dermis…the connective tissue layer of your skin. If it’s more than an acne scar, it’s probably full thickness through your dermis. Laser resurfacing or chemical peels can help with this to some degree, but laser resurfacing can cause scarring itself and if your scar is minor, like it sounds like it is, I wouldn’t mess with it. In all liklihood, any plastic surgeon you see would recommend doing nothing with it if it’s easily covered with makeup. I would save your money, rather than consult a surgeon. Even if you don’t have a procedure, you’ll get charged for the consult. If it’s really bothering you, your best bet would be to consult with a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist who specializes in chemical peels or laser resurfacing. Prices will vary surgeon to surgeon.
