I have broken capillaries (spider veins) on some parts of my face; particulary around my nose. I have heard that getting laser surgery done from a dermatologist helps a lot.
About how much does it cost and/or whats the price range for having this done??
thanks!
I used to cut and burn myself. (i was an idiot) the point is i have stopped. i have about 10 scars. 6 more from burning i stopped hurting myself in the summer of 09. the point is i really want these to go away or to be almost invisible. right now im using mederma scar cream and its to early to see if it actually works.
so i was thinking id give the cream some time and see a dermatologist this tuesday. ive heard that dermabrasions could actually work making the scars smaller and less noticeable.
another thing was getting a tattoo to cover them or actually getting a tattoo directly over the scar the same color as my skin instead of a design.
maybe even something more extreme as laser surgery.
any help would be appreciated on helping me get rid of these scars.
I’ve unfortunately accumulated a number of acne scars and my dermatologist tells me laser surgery isn’t an option until the rest of my acne is gone completely – which probably won’t be for another couple of years, at least. Not only that, but I’m not even sure I will be able to afford laser surgery. I’m afraid my scars are leading to actual emotional scarring on top of the already dealt physical damage. So, I wonder, is there any way that I can rid myself of my acne scars without laser surgery?
Though if I undergo laser therapy in the near future to treat my current acne as well as eliminate my acne scars, I still run the risk of developing new acne later on, right?
Ok well, I’m 16 years old. My skin on my face looks great…EXCEPT on my chin. For some strange reason I got a WILD bout of acne on my chin…I went to a dermatologist, and even with medicated creams it took MONTHS to go away..months..now,I am left with small, red, flat scars all over my chin.
My parents are paying for me to get laser surgery to take the scars off my chin, has anyone done this? How effective is it/
are there any home remedies to getting rid of acne scars. like spices or something. i heard that if you put your face in water that is steaming, the acne scars will go away and regular acne will dry out and go away too. is that true? i don’t want to go to a dermatologist and can’t get laser surgery. would regular lasers that are focused help to get rid of acne scars?
I don’t care about the cost but I need something to get rid of a LOT of acne scars by July preferably. I was considering dermabrasion or laser surgery. Which is better? Also is there any other quick options like a series of shots or something? I just want them gone and to be healed by July/August.
Also I don’t mind the maintenance of dermabrasion as long as the scars aren’t visible by July/August.
Thanks for any help. I’m going to ask my dermatologist the same thing I just was curious.
my dermatologist told me that my best option for minimizing the appearance of my acne scars is to have fraxel laser surgery. For 4 treatments, its going to cost me ,600.
My derm is reputable (I see tv commercial about her clinics) and I’ve been seeing her for the past 3 years.
Should I be skeptical of this procedure? My research tells me that people has had good and bad experiences with fraxel treatments. What’s your thought?

Has anyone ever gotten smoothbeam laser surgery for acne? If so how many treatments did you have to get? how was your skin before and after the treatments? In 2003 when I was 18 I was on accutane for 6 months, and seen no results. I’m currently using proactive, and It’s doing little to my skin. It seems like I tried all the creams, and antibiotics in the world. I’ve had plenty of dermatologist, and none could clear my skin. I’ve heard smoothbeam really works. Acne have always kept me down, and I feel like this is my last option to getting clear skin. I don’t even go out as much as I would like to. Now being 21 I think I should just except the fact that I have acne, since It do not look like It’s going to go away, but It’s going to be hard for me. I don’t know why, but girls seem to still like me. I have acne, acne scars, and oily skin. Any infomation would be great. Thank You
I have a really bad keloid scar on my chest due to surgery. I’ve tried Mederma, silicone sheets, and even steroid injections, but nothing seems to help. I was wondering if laser scar removal will have better effects. My dermatologist said that effects would be similar to those of steroid injections, and that the laser can flatten the scar but would not help with the discoloration. Is this true? Has anyone had experience where the laser flattened the scar and reduced discoloration? And has anyone tried both a laser and steroid injections and found that a laser works better? Thanks for your input.
Went to the dematologist. Asked the cosmologist about the laser treatment for my acne and hyperpigmentation. She said that it is not recommended for my skin type (I’m African-American). Have you ever heard of such a thing?
I wasn’t hinting at racism. My dermatologist suggested that laser treatment could be an option for me, so when the cosmologist didn’t recommend it, I just found it odd, that’s all.
