Question by Boo: What happens if I miss 5-10 months of laser hair removal treatments?
I am moving to Asia for 5 months, so my laser hair removal specialist marked down that I can get treatments for 3 years… since I will miss 5 months of treatments. Well, I’ll get back from Asia at the end of Aug 2011 and then I may leave for Australia a month later for 9 months. Will this mess up the process, will all the treatments i get from now til then be a waste?????

For a person to be able to perform the actual Laser Hair removal treatments, USUALLY they have to be a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner, and most up-scale facilities actually have their own certification classes in addition to the technition’s college education. I just recently went to a Laser Hair Removal Spa and they were highly educated and trained, so make sure you can see their certificates and degrees either on the walls or displayed somewhere. if not, its always ok to ask!

Depending on how coarse the hair is and what colour your skin and hair are..it takes anywhere from 6-12 treatments. Just make sure you go to someone who knows what they’re doing. There are a lot of fake lasers and ripoffs out there.

Question by Kat: Can I wax after I had 6-8 laser hair removal treatments?
I am considering going through laser hair removal. I went yesterday for my free consultation. I do understand that it is not permanent. It is a permanent hair reduction method. I am very white with dark hair, so I am a perfect candidate. I am 90% sure I want to go through this, as I have been struggling with hair my entire life. But I want to hear what people have to say.
I have been waxing for years and I find it much better than shaving, but when I asked the lady if I could start waxing again after I have my 6 or 8 laser treatments, she gave me a funny look, saying “you don’t want to stimulate any possible new hair, you should shave”. But I know for a fact that shaving is not good for me. My hair would grow back like a man’s beard.
If you have had laser hair removal, please give me your advice on this. Thanks a lot.

Shaving does not cause it to grow back like a man’s beard. I would say wax if you want, I don’t see why it would stimulate new growth.
