Eye laser surgery short sight risks and information

Eye laser surgeries are the most common surgeries in the western world and the satisfaction percentage of patients is very high. The huge demand made many clinics to promise a short eye laser surgery that will enable their patients to get rid of their eyeglasses.

But in many cases patients are not aware of the risks and that this simple surgery cant help every single patient, sometimes it can even end in blindness. The next story might emphasis some of these risks and problems:

R. is a 23 years old mom with 3 kids. She went with her little girl to an ordinary eye check at her optometrist. R used the opportunity to ask her doctor about an eye laser surgery, her Doctor immediately recommended the surgery and said that it was a 100% risk free operation.
The Doctor gave R a business card of an eye laser surgery clinic where he used to work. 2 days later R already had an appointment for the surgery. She was operated in one eye for $3,000 and in the first few days after the surgery she reported an improvement in eyesight but it didn’t last long and after a week or so she was already saying black dots and lost more of her eyesight in the operated eye. The surgeon told her that it was a natural reaction and kept claiming the same thing for over a year. In the end R found out that she shouldn’t have been operated because of the structure of her inner eye. She won a lawsuit against the clinic but that didn’t help her eye to get back to what it used to be.

So please make sure when choosing a clinic that the surgeon is a professional and ask him to go over all the risks with you. Most eye laser operations are a success but one can never be certain. There is no such thing as a 100% risk free operation and that is something you must always take in consideration.

In many cases it is good to visit more than one clinic, talk to the operating Doctor and ask for phone numbers or emails of clients that went through the same procedure and can recommend the clinic.

Laser Surgery for Shingles Scars?

I am a 30 yrs old and just had shingles about 2 months ago which left unsightly scars on my right, lower leg. I was wondering… can laser surgery really help remove those scars completely? And if so, will there any changes in my skin pigmentation (I have very pale white skin)? How soon can I start laser treatment? Do you also know how much they usually cost? I’m from the east coast, usa.

Thank you so much.

American Board of Plastic Surgery for Laser Treatment for Scar Removal/Reduction?

I need laser treatment for scar removal. My plastic surgeon doesn’t do laser so he referred me to someone else right next door to his office.

That someone else is a M.D. and is certified by my State Board of Physicians with no record of malpractice or felony during past 10 years. However, he is not a member of American Board of Plastic Surgery.

For a laser treatment for a scar, is it advisable to go to a M.D. who is a member of American Board of Plastic Surgery OR it shouldn’t matter as long as he’s certified by State Board of Physicians?

Does medicare cover laser surgery for severe skin problems due to chemical burn home related?

I am 29 now. When I was younger I had an accident with an at home product that burned my skin and made it continuously react badly. I have acne like skin problems. It stays sore, burning feeling, and I have never had the money to pay for laser surgery to fix it. It covers my entire arm..both of them and my chest. I was told that a very simple laser/acne treatment would probably clear it up and that a laser hair removal treatment would take care of the damaging effects of the chemical burn also. I have looked into places that accreditted to find the one that is the cheapest without compromising the quality of services and professionalism. Perfumes Plus in St. John, N.B. is close to where i live at the moment, but the acne treatment alone for one treatment is dollars orset of six for 0. The laser treatment alone is minimum of 90. I am wondering if medicare covers this type of skin problem due to chemical burn. Something must be done because this problem is painful.

Does laser acne scar removal count as cosmetic/plastic surgery?

I used to have acne, and they left a few scars, so I’m thinking of maybe getting laser treatment.
But it makes me feel kinda uncomfortable to think ‘Hey, I’m going to get plastic surgery.’ :P

So does it count as cosmetic/plastic surgery?

And if anyone knows any good natural remedies for acne scars, that would be greatly appreciated! =)

I can’t get laser surgery for my acne and scars because my skin is too dark?

Went to the dematologist. Asked the cosmologist about the laser treatment for my acne and hyperpigmentation. She said that it is not recommended for my skin type (I’m African-American). Have you ever heard of such a thing?
I wasn’t hinting at racism. My dermatologist suggested that laser treatment could be an option for me, so when the cosmologist didn’t recommend it, I just found it odd, that’s all.
